dc.description.abstractPurpose: In earlier studies there has not been any direct focus on whether supervisors facilitate RTW and we have little evidence if the supervisors contribute to early Return to Work (RTW). The aim of this article is through a systematic review discover whether there is a relation between leadership and return to work Methods: This study was designed as a systematic review of published scientific articles. Eight cohort studies were included for data extraction. Three were excluded as they lacked any statistical test between leadership and RTW. Results: A total of 48 associations were extracted from the included articles. Of the 48 associations 36 (75 %) showed a positive association between leadership and RTW. 12 subgroups of measurement to leadership and RTW / Sick leave. Six measurements from leadership and nine from RTW / sick leave. The most frequent measurement was Social support and Time to RTW. These measurements all showed a positive significance between leadership and RTW. Conclusion: The results from this systematic review indicates that there is a relation between leadership and RTW. Social support from leaders has some evidence to impact the time to RTW.en_US
