Abstract
The present article will discuss this dminction between privileges and property rights, based on the evolving concepts of “privileges”, “property rights” and “human rights”. Based on an elaboration of these terms, it will analyse whether the term “privilege” is more appropriate than the term “right” in relation to intellectual property. Among the various categories of intellectual property rights (IPRs), it will particularly assess the role of patents.
