integreringsarbeid. A rising number of immigrants to Norway has caused an intensive focus on topics like integration. Immigration also influences the civil society. Participating in volunteer work is viewed by many as a clever way for foreigners to get to know Norwegians and the Norwegian society. This study focuses on intercultural competence among employees and volunteers in the voluntary sector. The experiences of four employees and two volunteers in different organizations, where they perform different tasks and fill different roles, have provided this study with its relevant source data. This study focuses on the informants´ experiences of integration work, their intercultural competence and their attitudes and views on the
changes the society has undergone regarding immigration. The analytical part of the study focuses on the theories of Social Capital and highlights the importance of the informants´ intercultural competence when working with integration of immigrants to Norway.
